Welcome to the second season of Musings, where we embark on a journey of deeper exploration. In this chapter, I’ll unveil the intricate processes behind my work and introduce the projects shaping my creative landscape. As I embark into 2025, there are uncharted territories ahead—fresh collections, commissions, and musical whispers that will form the heart of this blog.

In the new body of work, I am particularly excited about my subject matter that dives unapologetically into the social justice and advocacy space. This series seeks to amplify voices that need to be heard, to serve as a canvas for the struggles that demand attention. My art has always carried an implicit commentary, but this time I feel a deeper urge to make the political commentary explicit—each brushstroke, a deliberate statement; every image, a testament to resilience, resistance and solidarity.

I’ve often hesitated to share the specific stories behind my pieces, preferring to let the viewer’s interpretation take precedence. However, this season I’ll open the door to my thought process on individual paintings. There are questions, conversations, and curiosity about my paintings that I can no longer keep to myself. In particular, episodes two and three will explore two of my new works, Baobab and Ibomvu. I will reveal the symbolism embedded in each detail—the sprawling branches of the Baobab that stand for strength, rootedness, and history, and the crimson earth tones of Ibomvu, a homage to African soil and the powerful symbolism of the sun. These pieces are more than just paintings; they are visual essays on heritage, resistance, and the beauty found inside all of us.

There exists a deeply compelling element about the intersection of art and activism—how a single piece can stand as both a work of beauty and a beacon of resistance. I find myself more inspired than ever to create art that speaks, that stands beside the marginalised, and offers them not just visibility but a platform for transformation. These works will tell stories of struggle, strength, and spirit, echoing the voices of those who need to be heard.
